Theatre work

Simon DonovanSimon trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, gaining a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Professional Theatre Performance – Musical Theatre (UEA).

Simon made his professional debut in the UK/International Tour of Evita! and had the privilege of performing in many opera houses around Europe. On his return to the UK, he was asked to sing the role of Marius in Les Miserables for the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate the show’s 25th Anniversary.

Theatre credits include: Ambrose Kemper u/s Cornelius Hackle in Hello, Dolly! (Curve, Leicester); Jean Bilodeau in Lilies (UK Tour/Greenwich Theate – Best Actor Nomination); Tony in West Side Story (Albany Theatre); Al Deluca in A Chorus Line (B.A.C); Ben/Sugar/Mrs Silverman/Sister Philomena/Danny in The Rink (Karamel Club); Crazy for You (London Palladium); Through the Door (Trafalgar Studios) and whilst training, Enoch Snow in Carousel, Joe Marino in The Witches of Eastwick and the title role in Richard III

West-Side-Story Simon Donovan

Whilst in training, Simon took the title role of Tony in West Side Story at the Albany Theatre, London to great acclaim.

Joining a huge cast of over 250 professional performers, Simon embarked on the 24-hour charity event to create the show-stopping production of Crazy for You at the London Palladium.

EVITA! Bill Kenwright Simon Donovan

In late 2010, Simon joined the UK/International Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical, EVITA!

Through the Door Simon Donovan

Joining West End leading lady Julie Atherton and on behalf of Perfect Pitch, Simon was part of the singing ensemble at the West End premier of the new musical Through the Door at the Trafalgar Studios, London.

Lilies Simon Donovan

Simon joined a fantastic cast of actors to tour the revival of Michel Marc Bouchard’s acclaimed play, Lilies.

Playing the part of Jean Bilodeau, Simon was nominated for Best Actor whilst appearing in Dublin.

Whilst training, Simon was cast as Al Deluca in Mountview’s production of A Chorus Line.

Hello Dolly Simon Donovan

Simon had the great privilege of sharing the stage with acclaimed West End actress Janie Dee in Hello, Dollyat the Leicester Curve Theatre.

He played the part of Ambrose Kemper and understudied West End leading man Michael Xavier as the comedy lead, Cornelius Hackle.

Simon DonovanAfter saying goodbye to the hugely talented cast of Hello, Dolly! Simon was invited over to Slovenia to sing a one-man show, ‘Til I Hear You Sing. Under the Musical Direction of Simon D’vorsak, Simon put together a whole host of Musical Theatre repertoire and toured the show around Slovenia. With the backing of a string quartet selected from The Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, this was a huge honour and culminated in a fantastic stay and tour of this beautiful country.

Simon has been invited back again to Slovenia in the near future to present an evening of Musical Theatre along side the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra.

BBC Simon Donovan

For the BBC, Simon appeared in Best Possible Taste: The Kenny Everett Story which saw the amazing Oliver Lansley take on the lead role, directed by James Strong.

Living with Jesus Simon Donovan

Written and directed by Matt Orton, Simon originated the role of Matthew in the new comedy TV pilot, Living with Jesus. Filmed in Oxford and working with a great cast and crew, the writers and producers are currently in talks to get the go ahead for the further filming of this great comedy.
